Hair loss or balding can be due to many factors, however, hair loss typically occurs in men and women whose hair follicles are blocked by a hormone called dihydrotestosterone or DHT. One’s sensitivity to DHT is due to genes that are passed down from either the mother or father’s side of the family. The genes that cause hair loss may skip generations and can also have different effects on siblings.
Hair loss can also be caused by other factors such as disease, overprocessing, or from traction due to tights weaves and braids in women. Hair Loss Clinic of Jamaica treats all types of hair loss.
How fast does hair grow?
For normal hairs that have not been impacted by hair loss or thinning due to DHT, growth occurs at a rate of about 1cm per month during the active phase of the hair. Hairs that have been affected by DHT or other forms of hair loss will not grow at this rate until the hair roots (follicles) have been repaired and normalized.
How much does the initial consultation cost?

Laser Treatment Common Questions
Is the laser harmful or contain any radiation?
NO. The laser is 100% safe and does not contain radiation. You will not experience any pain or discomfort while under the laser. The laser simply maximizes blood flow to the scalp and stimulates hair follicles, promoting re-growth of up to 93%. Laser treatment has been proven in over 3500 scientific and medical papers for over 30 years and has no known side effects.
How long will it take to see new growth once I have started laser therapy?
Everyone is different. Generally, in the first 1-2 months, hair loss stops. While laser treatment and the HLCJ products begin working on the hair follicles almost immediately, visible hair growth is not generally noticeable until approximately 3 months following consistent laser treatment sessions and proper use of HLCJ products. However, some people require between 6 months to 1 year to see the best results.
Once I get the results I desire, is on-going maintenance required?
For Androgenic Alopecia, YES. Since your hormonal status will not change, some maintenance will be required once you get the result you desire, or if the effect of laser therapy has been maximized. A maintenance program will be prescribed to you in order to maintain the re-grown hairs.

NO. Your body will reject hairs that are not yours.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure lasts 8 to 10 hours.

How long will it take to recover from the transplant procedure?
Less than 24 hours. After one night of sleep you are in physical shape to resume most of your normal activities.
How much does a hair transplant cost?
The cost will depend on your individual case and on how many hairs are required to be transplanted. During the initial consultation, Dr. Mamby Alexander can determine if you are a suitable hair transplant candidate and give you the final answer regarding costs.
